J. A. Ryan is attached to the Mathematics Department of Mzuzu University since 1999. He has also been attached to Mzuzu Catholic Diocese since 1978. He is interested in research in both mathematics (coding theory) and in spirituality/development issues. In particular:
- Goppa codes
- Extended Goppa codes
- Connections between the mathematics of the quantum world and spirituality
- Connections between the advances in telephony, development and spirituality
- Connections between science and spirituality
- Development issues and spirituality
As a missionary priest he has two burning passions:
- To promote a sense of the spiritual on planet Earth and
- To pass on to others a passion for mathematics.
He does this through working in the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at Mzuzu University, through weekend ministry at St Augustine’s Parish as well as promoting holistic development through Ungweru NGO

Arts George Luwanda has taught mathematics and statistics courses at Mzuzu University since 2001. His main application areas are in the biological and health sciences particularly in modelling disease dynamics.

Profile
Paul Francis Kubwalo has been with the Department of Mathematics since April 2004. His research interests include error-correcting codes and information security. He has also developed interest in cybersecurity that he has taken time to study ICT with the hope of finding a perfect marriage between Mathematics and ICT in cybersecurity.
