Atupele A. Malema is a Lecture in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery. She coordinates Level I students in the department. She obtained her BSc in Nursing and University Certificate in Midwifery from Kamuzu College of Nursing in 2009 and 2011 respectively and will be finishing her masters this year from China. She has worked with Malawi Government under the Ministry of Health and St. John of God before joining the University. She recently completed Masters in Nursing from China.
Atupele teaches Basic Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Gynecological Nursing and Community Health Nursing.

Mep Coretta Chipeta is a Lecturer in Nursing and Midwifery Department. She obtained Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and University Certificate in Midwifery from Kamuzu College of Nursing in 2005 and 2007 respectively. She did MSc in Nursing Education from the same institution. Has worked for Ministry of Health in Intensive care wards before joining Mzuzu University. Mep is involved in both classroom and clinical teaching in fundamentals of nursing, Medical and Surgical Nursing, Gynaecology Nursing, Bioethics and professionalism and Midwifery.
Dr. Griphin B Chirambo

Griphin Baxter Chirambois a lecturer and head in the department. He also coordinates clinical activities in the department. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Kamuzu College of Nursing in 2001. He then got a Post Graduate Diploma in mental Health/ Psychiatric Nursing in 2004 and then a Master of Science in Mental Health Nursing in 2005 from the University of KwaZulu Natal, Republic of South Africa.
Currently he is reading towards a PhD in Clinical Studies with funding from UCC Support LIFE project. He worked at St. John of God Community Services before joining the University.
Griphin teaches mental health nursing, psychology for health, Counseling and Research.
Dr. Lucky Mhango

Lucky Mhango is a Lecturer in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery. He has a Master of Science in Nursing degree obtained from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa (2001); a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (1994), Diploma in Nursing (1988) and University Certificate in Midwifery (1989) obtained from the University of Malawi, Kamuzu College of Nursing. He also has a Certificate in Operating Theatre Nursing and Intensive Care obtained from Okayama University Hospital (1992, Japan). Currently, he is reading for a degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Inter-professional Collaboration in Health-care Leadership with the University of Malawi, Kamuzu College of Nursing. He has worked in the Ministry of Health and Kamuzu College of Nursing before joining Mzuzu University in the year 2006.
Mr Mhango is involved in teaching Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical and Surgical Nursing, STIs, HIV and AIDS as well as Principles and Practice of Education.

Thokozani Bvumbwe is a Lecturer in the Nursing and Midwifery Department. He is also Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Kamuzu College of Nursing in 2000. He then pursued a Master of Science in Community Health Nursing (2003) and a Diploma in Mental Health/ Psychiatric Nursing (2002) from the University of KwaZulu Natal, Durban. He also completed his PhD studies from the same institution funded bu the NEPI Project. He has worked for St. John of God and Management Sciences for Health/ BASICS (2009) before joining the university.
