This two-year programme seeks to equip graduates with a forestry, natural resources, agricultural background to specialise further to obtain skills in sustainable forest resource use and management and in environmental management. On completion of the training, candidates should be conversant with the multifunctional nature of the forest resource base and be equipped to render advice concerning forest resource use and management with an understanding of the environmental consequences associated with exploitative use of natural resources. Thus, the professionals are expected to be able to demonstrate self-direction and originality in tackling and solving forestry and environmental problems and act autonomously in planning and implementing tasks at a sectoral level.

 

Admission requirements

Candidates must have a BSc degree qualification in forestry or forest science, natural resources, agricultural or environmental management from an accredited institution. Admission is subject to the approval of University Senate through the Graduate Studies Committee.
