RESEARCH BASED PROGRAMME
DOWNLOAD PROSPECTUS
Eligible applicants for Master’s programmes should submit their application packages,
which must include the following:
• An application letter providing motivation for the application;
• Updated Curriculum Vitae;
• Two letters from academic referees;
• Certified copies of academic certificates;
• Certified copies of academic transcripts; and
• Copy of bank deposit slip for application fee.
The following requirements apply for Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) applicants:
• An application letter providing motivation for the application;
• Updated Curriculum Vitae;
• Three traceable referees (at least two from academia);
• Certified copies of academic certificates;
• Certified copies of academic transcripts;
• A research concept in the area of specialization of approximately one thousand words; and
• Copy of bank deposit slip for application fee.

The Postgraduate Committee sits to evaluate all applications, and make a recommendation to
Senate. Successful applicants are notified through email and also by post following approval by
Senate and University Council.
APPLICATION FEES
Payment of Admission Application fee
All applicants should pay a non-refundable application fee of K10, 000.00 for Malawian applicants
and US$150 for international applicants. The application fee is subject to change.

NOTE: The bank deposit slip should be attached to the application letter. The admission application
fee may be revised from time-to-time. Please check the actual amount in latest advert.
TUITION FEES
Tuition fees vary depending on the programme. Please visit the postgraduate admissions page, scroll down the page and click on the programme title to view tuition information or contact the heads of departs under faculties and departments for more information.
FUNDING
There a number of available scholarships. Visit the scholarships under the admission section, You can get detailed information of available funding from the University Trust fund office.
All students are enrolled off-campus, students are expected to make own arrangements on accommodation. The university has limited room for rent on first come first serve basis. Special need students can lease with the dean of students office for further considerations.
