MZUNI student wins SADC Award

Mzuzu University Bachelor of Arts (Communication Studies) student Henry Haukeya has won the 2022 SADC Television Journalist Award.
Haukeya, who is also Malawi Broadcasting Corporation journalist, won the 2nd Prize in the TV Category with his story on the Malawi-Zambia Transfrontier Conservation Area programme. Under this programme, countries that have game reserves, national parks or forests that straddle boundaries agreed to manage the resources together. The aim of the programme is to manage wildlife crimes and improve tourism among others.
Haukeya explained why he joined Mzuzu University: “I decided to join Mzuzu University as an upgrading student having realised that the University has a number of programmes that are providing solutions to challenges that the country is facing today. I will benefit from the extensive knowledge that the University has generated since it was established.”
