GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR PROJECTS AND 26TH UNIVERSITY CONGREGATION
Mzuzu University is pleased to announce that His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi and Chancellor of the Mzuzu University, will preside over the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the construction of the Entrepreneurs Training and Incubation Centre (ETIC) and New Student Hostels at Mzuzu University Main Campus, Luwinga, on Thursday, 11th July, 2024.
Thereafter, His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi and Chancellor of the Mzuzu University will preside over the First Day of the First Session of the 26th University Congregation and confer certificates, diplomas and degrees.
Mzuzu University therefore, wishes to inform all students who completed their studies in the 2023/2024 Academic Year, their parents, guardians and the general public that the First Session of the 26th University Congregation is scheduled to be held in two days as follows:
A. FIRST DAY:

Academic Regalia
Academic regalia will be available for hire at the following charges:
Diploma set : MK25,000.00
Bachelor’s set : MK35,000.00
Masters set : MK60,000.00
PhD Set : MK100,000.00
The appropriate academic dress hiring fee should be paid into the following bank account and present the deposit slip to the Cashier in the Finance Office to obtain a receipt to be used for collecting the academic dress in the Registry:

All graduands shall be required to return their academic regalia immediately after the graduation ceremony. Any unreturned academic dress shall attract a penalty equivalent to the academic regalia hiring fee for each subsequent day of delay, payable before the release of the certificate.
Dress Rehearsals
Dress rehearsals will take place as follows:
Date : Wednesday, 10th July, 2023
Time : 9:00am
Venue : Mzuzu University Sports Grounds
All graduands are required to come to the dress rehearsals in their academic regalia and are asked to be punctual.
Only those that attend rehearsals shall be allowed to process during the graduation ceremony. Graduands who will not return their academic regalia on the same day will be charged a new hiring fee and a late return penalty.
Collection of Academic Awards
All certificates, diplomas and degrees will be available for collection at the Mzuzu University Registry soon after the graduation ceremony, after returning the academic regalia and upon signing the graduate register. Graduates will be required to present an identity document (ID) such as the National ID, passport, driver’s license and previous student ID.
Outstanding Debts and Names of Graduands
Graduands still owing the University any outstanding fees or other financial obligations will not graduate. The University is giving such candidates an opportunity to clear their debts by Friday, 21st June 2024 to be included on the final list of graduands which will be published on the University website: www.mzuni.ac.mw on Monday, 24th June 2024. Candidates who fail to honour their dues by the given date will not be included on the list of graduands and they will have to wait for the next Congregation.
Graduands should clear their debts by depositing the funds into the fee collection account provided above.
The deposit slip should be scanned and e-mailed to dfi@mzuni.ac.mw with a copy to academic@mzuni.ac.mw for clearance; or may be presented in person on Campus to the Finance Department. Travel, Upkeep and Accommodation
Graduands will be responsible for their own travel, upkeep and accommodation.
Photographers and Other Businesses
The University will designate specific areas for all photographers who wish to operate at the Campus during the dress rehearsals and during the Congregation Day. All photographers and businesses shall be required to deposit the business fee into the Fee Collection Account shared above and present the deposit slip to the Cashier in Finance Office to be issued a receipt which will form a business pass during the Congregation Day.
The following are the charges for photography and other businesses:
- Within the Congregation arena near the stage (limited spaces): K50,000 per day
- Photography stalls anywhere around Campus : K30, 000 per day • Other businesses anywhere around Campus : K20,000 per day
