Certificate in Urban & Rural Development Planning (3 weeks)

This continuous professional development (CPD) course targets planning officials in district, town, municipal and city councils to contribute to the realisation of Malawi’s transformative agenda for 2063. The course will be delivered in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government & Rural Development (MLGRD). Course co-Directors:

Certificate Course on Housing Development (3 weeks):

This continuous professional development (CPD) course targets housing officials in government, local government, private sector and NGOs involved in housing development and improvement projects. The course explores the various approaches to housing development generally and to informal settlement improvement specifically within the context of both sustainable development goals and Malawi’s transformation agenda 2063. Case studies from Latin America, Africa and Asia will be analysed as a way to understand the application of various global south concepts. Course Director:  Mtafu Manda: Email: manda.ma@mzuni.ac.mw 

Second One

Certificate in Environmental & Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) (3 Weeks): This course targets planners, project officers and consultants and all those involved in the preparation and review of ESIAs and Environmental Audit (EA) reports.  For some participants this is a new course while for others this is a refresher course. The mix of participants of different backgrounds adds significant value for money and time. CERTIFICATE IN LAND GOVERNANCE (3 WEEKS)

This refresher course focuses on land governance principles including land rights, expropriation, and compensation. The course also looks at the linkages between land & housing, land & food security, land & gender and land & economic development. It targets career experts and officials in land administration, property valuation, urban planning, estate management. Participants can be officials from central and local governments, private sector, NGOs and individuals interested in land governance.
