
Biography
Rodrick Romukt Katete is a Malawian tourism expert and lecturer specializing in cultural and heritage tourism. He holds a Master of Tourism Management from Beijing International Studies University and a Bachelor of Science in Tourism from Mzuzu University. Furthermore, he has obtained diplomas and certificates in research skills, strategic project management, and data analysis.
As a lecturer at Mzuzu University, Rodrick teaches cultural and heritage tourism, develops curricula, and conducts research on heritage conservation and sustainable tourism. In addition to his academic role, he has contributed to key projects, including the Muzi Ecosystem Project, where he served as Co-Monitoring & Evaluation Lead, overseeing data collection and analysis across three districts.
Notably, Rodrick has also worked on the Zantchito Project as a Business Development Specialist, guiding entrepreneurs in feasibility studies, business registration, and investor pitching. Moreover, he developed a Cultural Awareness Manual under the Transforming Higher Education Systems (THES) project, enhancing stakeholder competency in heritage appreciation.
Rodrick was involved with UNESCO in formulating a sustainable Cultural tourism strategy for the SADC region. Previously, as Lodge Manager at CaKe’s Lodge, he improved operations, implemented market-driven strategies, and earned 4 Airbnb Super-Host Awards. Additionally, his experience includes conducting tourism facility inspections with Malawi’s Department of Tourism.
Currently, Rodrick is a member of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry Professionals Association (THIPA) and remains committed to advancing cultural tourism and heritage management in Malawi.
